About us
Child Friendly Communities Australia (CFca) was formed in April 2013 to respond to a growing interest in the practical application of the development of Children’s Wellbeing Reports in Australia. Communities in East Gippsland, Melbourne, Launceston, Logan and Alice Springs were just some of the communities seeking support with their children’s focussed initiatives.
CFca was formed to create conversation about local responses to local planning and to provide resources and encouragement for towns and communities seeking to take the next step towards collaboration for children’s wellbeing. CFca has a particular expertise in assisting communities develop local well being reports on the status of children as a key stepping stone on the path to communities implementing child-friendly plans and governance processes.
Founding members of CFca are:
Jayne Meyer Tucker (Chair) is the founder of JMTinc former Chief Executive Officer of Good Beginnings Australia, and has over 10 years international experience in the provision of early intervention programs for children and families, specialising in creating productive partnerships between the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
Dr Geoffrey Woolcock is Senior Research Fellow at Wesley Mission Brisbane. Geoff is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in Griffith University’s School of Human Services and Social Work. He is the former Australian member on the executive committee for the Asia-Pacific Child-Friendly Cities Network and the Queensland convener for the Australian Research Alliance for Children & Youth (ARACY).
David Pugh is the CEO at Anglicare NT where he is involved in a number of Government and NGO partnerships. David was previously CEO at St Luke’s Anglicare where he oversaw the development of the Child Friendly City Leadership Group and the State of Bendigo’s Children Report.
